I wrote this song for the parents of a friend of mine (Tim) who passed away way to early. I found out that his Mom was recently diagnosed with cancer and felt like the one thing I could do was write a song for her and her husband. It's not that much and I wish I could do more to comfort them. They are both very good people.
Lyrics
I think I wrote this song for you,
In a lovely sort of way.
The notes reminded me of Tim,
And how we used to play...
Music through the summer nights,
Hanging with our friends.
This took me twenty years to write...
Good songs should never end.
Now I know you lost a part of you,
That you will search for every day.
That's why I think this song's for you...
I remembered what you said...
You said...
Paul...it ain't right...
To live this way.
You have to fight it.
Things need to change.
Now I heard that you're not feeling well,
And it doesn't seem that fair,
That two people who've been through hell,
Now have more than they can bear.
Now the only comfort I can give,
are the notes of a pretty song,
And that I'll do my best to live,
By your words that I'll pass on.
You said...
Paul...it ain't right...
To live this way.
You have to fight it.
Things need to change.
Paul...it ain't right...
To live this way.
You have to fight it.
Things need to change.
